About the App

MMCGME and the Physicians Wellness Collaborative have partnered to offer a pilot peer support/mentoring program for medical residents through the app PWC PeerConnect. The app will provide a confidential space where medical residents can connect with physicians for mentorship, personal or professional resources, advice, specialization in a specific area or ask questions related to their program.

Become a Peer Support Mentor

A mentorship or peer support relationship is a supportive relationship or conversation between two people who share a lived experience such as profession, obstacles, and more.

An ideal peer support mentor is someone who can:

  • Be an active listener

  • Empathize and relate to challenges residents face at work or home

  • Apply communication strategies to encourage open, supportive dialogue

  • Be willing to occasionally volunteer time to call, text, or meet with members who request support.

  • If a resident is looking for additional support, point them to referrals embedded in the PeerConnect app or refer them to the Physicians Wellness Collaborative.

Peer supports mentors are not diagnosing a condition, prescribing medication, creating a self-referral, or engaging in any peer support relationship that would create a conflict of interest.
